In the lead up to the fun and festivity of the 2009 Vietnamese New Year Festival, Sydney - Australia Vietlish Entertainment, co-founder Maria Tran and Joseph Hieu had the privilege of hosting the Friday Tet Concert Show at Fairfield Showground alongside with superstar sensation singer Don Ho from the States!
Don Ho is a Vietnamese-American singer, renown for his youthful pop music image. Since then, Don has explored the ballad genre continues his dynamic and lively performances since the 1990’s on Thuy Nga’s Music Productions “Paris By Night” and Asia Productions. Amongst his memorable performances is Trai Tim Mua Dong “Winter Heart” written by Truc Ho.
“He truly has a unique voice, paired with such distinct on-stage presence; a definite X factor icon in the global Vietnamese entertainment industry for more than three decades!” says Joseph.
“I can recall my younger years looking forward to his performances on the Vietnamese music shows because he often performed English songs that related to the younger generations.” Adds Maria.
And that was how it was, a VHS tape celebrity transformed into a live show for the 1,500 Australian – Vietnamese community audiences as they feast their eyes and ears on Don’s electrifying performances on the old school favourites such as “Say you will”, “Vi Do La Em”, “Chuc Xuan” & “Trai Tim Mua Dong”.
Thanks to one of our Vietlish Crew Member (Jack Ngu) we had the opportunity to steal some overtime with the man in the flesh and dish out some novel questions.

Vietlish TV – Tập 3 – Gặp gỡ Don Hồ!
Trong không khí tưng bừng mừng Xuân Kỷ Sửu, hai bạn Joseph Hieu Dinh & Maria Trần đã được mời làm MC cho chương trình văn nghệ cùng sân khấu với nam ca sĩ Đon Hồ tại Hội Chợ Tết, do CĐNVTD/NSW tổ chức tại Sydney Australia.
Don Hồ là một ca sĩ người Mỹ gốc Việt, đã được khán giả khắp thế giới yêu mến ngay từ những năm 1990 qua lối trình diễn nhạc trẻ thật sống động và mới mẻ của anh trên sân khấu Thúy Nga “Paris By Night“ và Asia Entertainment. Một trong những nhạc phẩm được các bạn trẻ mến mộ nhất là “Trái Tim Mùa Đông” của nhạc sĩ Trúc Hồ.
Cô Maria Trần tiếp: “Tôi còn nhớ hồi nhỏ, lúc nào cũng mong đợi phần trình diễn của anh trên những chương trình ca nhạc, vì anh cũng hay hát những bài bằng tiếng Anh mà các bạn trẻ ưa thích.”
Hơn 1,500 khán giả mến mộ đã tụ về để xem anh, từ những cuốn DVD ở nhà, nay được cơ hội xem tận mắt anh trên sân khấu Fairfield Showgrounds để trình bầy những nhạc phẩm được yêu cầu như “Say You Will,” “Vì Đó Là Em” (Diệu Hương), “Chúc Xuân” và “Trái Tim Mùa Đông” (Trúc Hồ).
Cũng nhờ sự giúp đỡ của bạn Jack Ngu, là thành viên mới của nhóm trẻ Vietlish, chúng tôi đã kéo lại anh Don Hồ để bất ngờ tra tấn anh với những câu hỏi chưa bao giờ được hỏi trên ống kính.
