David and Maria met by chance at the beautiful sandblow in Rainbow Beach. David became the hero of the day, when he helped saved one of Maria's friends who got stuck while attempting to climb the cliff. After asking Maria's mother for permission to marry Maria, David kept the whole family waiting months before he finally popped the question, getting on his hands and knees with a beautiful ring in Lake Matherson, New Zealand.
They married on 9 September 2009 at historic St. Declan Church in Penhurst.
An intimate reception followed at Maxims Restaurant in Bankstown with 100 guests attending, hosted by Joseph Hieu Dinh & Maria Tran.
