Another time, another year, the Vietnamese Student’s Association organises another function ball to recap on the year of 2008. Claiming an event “not to missed out on”, I believe a number of things were missing – a sound technician?
By the looks of things, the run sheet was out the door when the event started 45 mins later then scheduled, but made up for it by finishing an hour early, which fitted conveniently well.
The event was facilitated by a refreshingly cute individual from VSA-UTS who put a spark and a quirky spin on the night’s funny spectacles such as the “spin 20 times on the broom” game and also the “Best dressed” competition.
Dance and hip hop crew Jin-Jose made a rather down-to- earth and floor wiping appearance with a sample segment on what sort of jam they got running.
Rumble Pictures crew Jack Ngu & Quoc Trinh demonstrated their multimedia talent with a VSA – News snippet with Reporter Cybelle Nguyen and a memorable collection of moving images to reminiscence on this year - unfolded.

“Downtown Rumble” episodes 4 & 5 got the plug and then ledd into the 20 minute halt of technical difficulties and bad sound.
The highlight of the night would have to be Dung Tran’s Dee Tee Fashion range, her collections of strikingly “Different” styles from retro to the contemporary. This girl has got the gift of detail, and judging from the catwalk, she definitely knows how to run her segment with flair.
Overall, one question to pose to VSA – NSW branch. Was the event reflective and representative of all the different university’s input? Was there proper group consultation to get this event running? Only rhetoric questions that will hopefully get the cogs turning of young people in the art of event management.
