TRAVEL: Country NSW - Grafton

This year is the year of plentiful travels, from across Australia in 19 days to now my new contracted job and being based at Grafton for the next 3 weeks. I am really surprised to see how much I’ve grown to adapt to changes in my life and with open arms and positivity.

Of course, the Quest for Jackie Chan! is still in focus. I’ve already booked in my airfares to Hong Kong for an anticipated 2 months stay for both the “quest” and professional work development. If any one knows me well, they would know that I have an anal habit of booking in loads of meetings just for further scope on the project.
Okies, so my next trip is to Grafton, which is 640 km from Sydney (8 hours drive North) into the country population of 17,500.

I can’t disclose my line of work and at the same time I’m also trying to figure out what 14 days in Grafton would feel like. Anyhow, a line of work that will bring in more dough more my “Quest for Jackie Chan!” – Hong Kong Style! It is a definite positive.

My stay in Grafton has been an awfully wet one with daily weather that resembles England, however working with a team of 10 on the regional consultations is a line of work that is very much new to me. But it definitely gets me out and about on a daily basis, working with a multicultural team (a Maori, German, Scottish, English, French etc...).

In this region, it looks like everyone knows each other and after 7 days they will pretty much know you (people honk when they see you).

In terms of things to do...well...there’s not really much for the young, hip and cool. But I do appreciate the local shopping mall (Grafton Shoppingworld), their Aldi and my favourite visual spot is the Grafton bridge that joins both north and south.
Some things to note about Grafton residents:

• Almost every household has a friggin’ big dog
• They love their sports, horse racing and boat shows
• A lot of them work for Country Energy and Woolworths
• Their demographics are predominately old people and loves cups of tea

The place I’m staying is at the Big River Holiday Park Ski Lodge. It nothing close to fancy and for any high maintenance people out there, this would be a living nightmare. Muddy, mozzie infested small dirty cabins that only pass out river water (River water is gross.

It is literally yellow). My daily diet has repetitively been cans and cans of energy drinks, coffee, toast and eggs, museli bars and other things that picks me up.

But hey, I ain’t complaining. Any job that gets me paid to travel and go on adventures is a super bonus.
